Barbados UNESCO has registered 1 site on the World Heritage list and 2 on the tentative list.

Some places are so interesting that it’s relevant to keep them for future generations. This is why UNESCO has built a list of crucial classified properties in which superb places stand out for their aesthetic, natural, artistic, or cultural significance.

More than a thousand places are registered as Unesco’s World Heritage worldwide. Due to my interest in visiting World Heritage sites, I compiled the UNESCO list in Barbados and the corresponding map.

Description

  1. Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison are a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the capital city of Bridgetown on the island of Barbados. The site includes the historic center of Bridgetown, an important center of trade and commerce during the colonial era, and the nearby garrison complex, a key military center for the British Empire in the Caribbean. The site reflects the region’s history of colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade, as well as its cultural and architectural influences from Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Today, the site is a well-preserved example of colonial-era architecture and urban planning and a popular tourist destination in the Caribbean.
