Some places are so interesting that it’s relevant to keep them for future generations. This is why UNESCO has built a list of crucial classified properties in which superb places stand out for their aesthetic, natural, artistic, or cultural significance.
More than a thousand places are registered as Unesco’s World Heritage worldwide. Due to my interest in visiting World Heritage sites, I compiled the UNESCO list in Saint Lucia and the corresponding map.

Description
- The Pitons Management Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on the island of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. The site includes the Pitons, two volcanic peaks that rise sharply from the sea and are among the most recognizable landmarks of the Caribbean. The Pitons Management Area also includes the surrounding marine and terrestrial ecosystems, including coral reefs, mangrove forests, rainforests, and several endemic species. The site is significant for its geological and ecological diversity and cultural importance to the local communities, who have inhabited the region for centuries and have developed unique traditions and practices reflecting their African, indigenous, and European heritage. Today, the Pitons Management Area is a popular destination for eco-tourism and a well-preserved example of the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
