Vanuatu UNESCO has registered 1 site on the World Heritage list and 5 on the tentative list.

Some places are so interesting that it’s relevant to keep them for future generations. This is why UNESCO has built a list of crucial classified properties in which superb places stand out for their aesthetic, natural, artistic, or cultural significance.

More than a thousand places are registered as Unesco’s World Heritage worldwide. Due to my interest in visiting World Heritage sites, I compiled the UNESCO list in Vanuatu and the corresponding map.

Description

  1. Chief Roi Mata’s Domain is a cultural site located in Vanuatu. It consists of three sites: Chief Roi Mata’s Domain itself, the sacred sites surrounding it, and the mass burial site of the Roi Mata warriors. The site is a traditional Pacific Island cultural landscape that bears witness to the power and authority of the paramount chief and his descendants. It is also an important example of how Pacific Island societies adapted to the arrival of Europeans and the associated changes to their way of life. The site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Vanuatu have protected places for their cultural and natural importance.
