Lesson 2.1 – The connection of the letters – Word FATHER

The word “father” in Arabic is written like this:
As you remember from previous lessons letter “B” has a dot below and letter “A” is a raised stick. So you have your THIRD word in Arabic: FATHER-AB (pronounced AB). The sound of the letter “A” at the beginning of the word is a standard “A” (not prolonged as in the previous word – door). Therefore it requires a glottal stop called “hamza” that makes the sound of the letter “A” opened as in the word “case”.
